The Peninsula Arts Executive Committee is seeking to appoint a new Secretary and Executive Committee Member. We are currently welcoming nominations for people with suitable skills and a vested interest in the arts.
The purpose of the Executive Committee is to control the affairs of Peninsula Arts Inc. (PAI) on behalf of the membership. It sets and holds the vision and strategic direction, approves the budget, monitors organisational performance and exercises the charity’s legal responsibilities.

Secretary
The Secretary’s role is to support the President in ensuring the smooth function of committee meetings, communication and administration. This includes;
- Ensuring all Executive Committee meetings are effectively organised and minuted
- Liaising with the President to prepare and distribute agendas and meeting minutes
- Ensuring that agreed tasks and actions are being carried out in a timely manner
- Maintaining and updating contact details for the Executive Committee and ordinary members of the organisation
- Keeping a record of the organisation’s activities for the purpose of annual Charities Accountability reporting
- Keeping a tidy record of all minutes, resolutions and reports
- Acting as custodian of the organisation’s governing documents and publications
The successful applicant will possess excellent typing and note taking skills with a pride in their efficiency and accuracy. Experience in the charity / non profit sector a bonus. This position is remunerated with a small annual gratuity but otherwise considered a voluntary role.
Executive Committee Member
The role of an Executive Committee member is to contribute actively to the governance of Peninsula Arts in accordance with its Rules, Vision and Values, legal requirements and policies. This includes;
- Developing a working understanding of the rules and assist in maintaining adherence to them on behalf of the membership
- Contributing actively and constructively to the ongoing development, approval and review of the organisations strategic direction, plans and policies
- Approving and monitoring the annual budget and financial reporting to ensure the organisation operates efficient, transparent financial management in accordance with its legal obligations
- Accepting collective and personal responsibility for the promotion of the vision and activities of the organisation wherever relevant
- Participating actively in any Sub-Committees and carrying out any roles or tasks assigned in a timely and efficient manner
- Maintaining a working knowledge of the activities of the organisation and call attention to any concerns in a respectful and ethical way
Successful applicants will possess a vested interest in the arts and the objectives of the organisation. Experience in governance a bonus. This is an unpaid, voluntary position.
Expected time commitment for both roles
The Executive Committee currently meets 11 times per year monthly for two hours per meeting. An Annual General Meeting of approximately two – three hours is held annually, and provision exists for additional special general meetings. Committee members can expect to contribute a minimum of three – four hours per month. The office holders, being the President, Secretary and Treasurer, will contribute proportionately more time.
