Jacquie Phipps – President
A Te Atatu Peninsula local, Jacquie joined Peninsula Arts through a desire to connect with her community through a creative platform and brings great expertise in governance, systems, critical thinking and research methods.
Currently working at Whitecliffe College of Arts and Design as Academic Registrar, senior administrator, lecturer and research supervisor in the Postgraduate Department, Jacquie holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) in English Literature with supporting studies in Classical Studies and Art History as well as a Masters of Philosophy in Modern Poetry in English, a Postgraduate Diploma in Library and Information Studies and a Certificate in Adult Teaching.
Helen Gavin – Treasurer
Originally involved as a volunteer on the committee for the Harbourview Sculpture Trail 2014, Helen rules the figures in her role as both Treasurer and Accounts Administrator for the Sculpture Trail. Coming from a background in Accounts Management for various design agencies, Helen currently fits in her duties around the running of her family building business. Also a local to Te Atatu, Helen has a keen eye for beautiful things and boasts a home full of beautiful art.
Becky Nunes – Secretary
A local to Te Atatu South, passionate about local community development, Becky is a founding member of New Zealand photography collective Tangent and heads the BFA Photo Media program at Whitecliffe College.
Becky holds a BFA (Hons.), an MFA, First Class Honours and is an NZIPP Master of photography. As a practicing photographer, her work has been exhibited in both group and solo shows in NZ and abroad, has attracted awards, been published locally and overseas and is held in several private collections. Becky’s engagement with ideas of taonga, cultural identity and their relationship to place is reflected in her practice and crosses into her interests within her role on the Peninsula Arts board.
Chris Burton
An active member of the peninsula community, Chris is a Community Environment Leader for Community Waitakere. With a Bachelors Degree in Outdoor Education and a Post Graduate Diploma in Teaching, Chris is passionate about engaging people with the natural world, and using these experiences to foster growth and personal development. Chris assists Peninsula Arts as a conduit to community groups, and brings with him a strong desire for increased engagement in the local environment.
